Pete with Persepholis winged horse statue

My presence gives this statue a sense of scale, as well as showing off my ultra-casual attire. Actually I don't like these Persian statues very much, apart from having 5 legs (!) there's something rather grandiose and smacking of overblown self-importance about them. They try too hard to impress. But then, I found the proportions of the columns at Persepholis were not to my taste either, they lacked subtlety, and made me realise how much I preferred Greek pillars and columns. Somehow I ended up thinking that the Persians were probably the sort of people who would have idolised Freddy Mercury and Queen.
