Musee d'Orsay - looking down

museedorsaylookingdown.jpg

What to do with a railway station that's surplus to requirements? In Paris they've turned one into a massive art gallery. Quite an amazing building in its own right, this view looking down into the main body of the building gives very little idea of the amount of art there actually is here. This hall is mainly sculpture, and it's light and airy. The Impressionist art - probably the biggest crowd puller - is tucked away in rather cramped little attic rooms near an even more claustrophobic cafe. What a pity.
